ADJUSTING THE EYECUP:
Prior to using the Siege monoculars, it is best to adjust the twist up eyecup to
your preference. The twist-up eyecups allow you to properly observe the full
field of view of the image without any vignette effect or darkened edges. Even
if you wear eyeglasses you can use the Siege monoculars effectively. If you
wear glasses, keep the eyecup in the down position. Twist the eyecup to the
up position if you do not wear glasses. To twist the eye cups:
1. Rotate the eye cup (2) counter-clockwise to raise the eyecup.
2. Rotate the eye cup clockwise to lower the eyecup.
MOUNTING THE TRIPOD:
All Firefield Siege monoculars include a tripod that attaches to the built-in tripod mount. The built-in tripod mount also works with
most aftermarket tripods and window mounts. The built-in tripod mount can be used with any tripod or window mount that uses a
standard 1/4-20 UNC tripod screw. To mount the tripod:
1. Align the tripod’s mounting screw with the socket on the bottom of the tripod mount (4).
2. Screw the tripod’s mounting screw so that the tripod and the tripod mount are completely connected and firmly secured.
USING THE RANGEFINDING RETICLE:
Firefield Siege 10x50R Tactical Monocular uses a mil reticle. Mil stands for millradian. A millradian is 1/6283.2th of a circle, or 3.438 MOA. The millradian represents
1 unit at 1000 yards. To simplify, a target that is one yard tall at 1000 yards would
measure 1 millradian. Each hashmark in the 10x50’s reticle is 5 mils.
Calulation Method:
In order to determine distance there are three variables: target size, mils read, and range. In order to determine distance, the target size must be known. By using the reticle to measure target height the following calculation can be used to derive an estimated
distance.
Target size (in yards) x 1000 / Mils read = yards to target
For example, a full size deer is approximately six feet long. Convert feet into yards (3’ = 1yd), so the deer is 2 yards long. Now
measure the deer with the mil reticle; it is 10 mils long. Next, mulitply the target size (2 yards) by the constant of 1000. This
equals 2000. Now divide 2000 by mils read (10), this equals 200. So the deer is roughly 200 yards away.
MAINTENANCE:
Proper maintenance of the Firefield Siege monoculars is recommended to ensure longevity. It is recommended that when the monocular becomes dirty that it is wiped down with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Blow dirt and debris off all optics and then clean the lenses with a lens cleaning cloth. To remove oils or dried water spots, apply a small amount of denature alcohol to a lens cloth
or cotton swab. Clean the surface of the lens and let dry. Finally use your breath to clean the lens once more. To protect the monocular store it in the protective padded case when not in use. No further maintenance is required. Do not attempt to disassemble any components of the monocular.
STORAGE:
Cover with the objective lens and the eyepiece with the included lens covers. For long-term storage, place the monocular in a cool, dry and ventilated area.
WARNING: Before handling the Firefield Siege monocular read and understand the contents of the Firefield manual.
• Avoid hitting or dropping the unit
• NEVER look directly into the sun or at other bright light sources with the monocular as this could damage your eye and cause
blindness.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
Proper authorization is required before shipping any product back to Firefield. Failure to obtain authorization could result in your
product being returned to the wrong address, lost, or damaged. Firefield is not liable for products returned without authorization.
The image is blurry and not in focus:
1. Rotate the focus dial until the image becomes clear and sharp.
2. Remove any dust or oil off the objective lens or eyepiece.
